The Arizona Cardinals have a big challenge this weekend as they travel to Los Angeles to take on the Rams in Week 2. L.A. is considered to be one of the top teams in the NFC, while the Cardinals are coming off an embarrassing loss in their season opener.
They are double-digit underdogs and many predict a blowout.
However, in a Madden 19 video game simulation, the Cardinals manage to be competitive throughout the game. The offense comes alive, led by David Johnson, Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald, but Todd Gurley and the Rams are too much in a 35-25 Week 2 loss on the road.
David Johnson and Todd Gurley put up big numbers. Both score twice. Johnson rushes for 134 yards on 23 carries. Gurley gets 118 on 20 carries and a catch for 14 yards.
Kirk leads the Cardinals with 76 receiving yards on six receptions and a touchdown, with Fitzgerald one yard less with six catches of his own.
Arizona struggled with covering tight ends. Tyler Higbee had nine catches for 82 yatrds and a score, while Gerald Everett had seven catches of his own.
Sam Bradford was better, completing 21-of-31 passes for 226 yards, a TD and an INT. Jared Goff could not be stopped, completing 29-of-35 for 296 yards, two TDs and a pick.
Each QB was sacked four times.
It isn’t a win, but if reality is like the simulation, the game on Sunday will at least be quite entertaining.
